NRN-NL has successfully been formed

 

 

The National Coordination Council of Non-Resident Nepali Association, has successfully been formed in the Netherlands [The Hague, 13 December 2005]

Nepali residing in the Netherlands formed the National Coordination Council (NCC) of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) under the Chairmanship of Shashi Kanta Paudyal on December 10, 2005. Other members of the Council comprise Govind Rauniyar and Ranga Nath Sharma (Vice-President), Indira Lama (Coordinator), Sharmila Pradhan (Treasurer), Dhruba Shrestha, Bal Gopal Shrestha, Rabin Shrestha, Hari Paudel, Mahendra Gurung, Anjan Gurung, Krishna Adhikari and Jivan Pun (Members). Formation of the NCC-NL is a reflection of Nepalese people living in the Netherlands to join hands with the NRNA International Coordination Council (ICC) for the socio-economic advancement of their motherland. 

Nepali people living and working in the Netherlands were gathered with enthusiasm in the meeting organised in the city of Utrecht encouraged the newly formed NCC to be effective in their mission. 

Ms. Indira Lama, as the Master of Ceremony opened the meeting and welcomed the participants. Mr. Ram Babu Nepal, Member of the NRNA-ICC addressed the meeting and briefed about its history, objectives, mission and future programmes. He highlighted the major issues discussed during the Second Global NRN Conference held in Kathmandu, 7-9 October 2005 and the Kathmandu Declaration signed jointly by His Majesty’s Government, the Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the NRNA-ICC. He stated that Nepali living abroad have contributed in different ways for the socio-economic development of Nepal. But the NRNA aims to reinforce and integrate the endeavours of Nepali. He requested Nepali people living and working in the Netherlands to consolidate their efforts for the overall development of Nepal.

During the panel discussion the participants raised many interesting questions including the possible contribution of the NRNA and addressing some problems they are currently facing. They also asked about the rights and duties of non-resident Nepali if they wish to do business in Nepal and potential opportunities? Mr. Ram Babu Nepal and newly elected President jointly addressed the issues raised by participants. The names of NCC office bearers were proposed by Ram Babu Nepal and endorsed by the audience. 

The newly elected president of NRN-NCC NL, Shashi Paudyal, thanked audience for their support and highlighted the need of creating a broad network of Non – Resident Nepali working and living in the Netherlands and streamlining the energy and resources for Nepali as the motto of the NRNA BY NEPALI FOR NEPALI calls for. He also briefly mentioned the upcoming activities of NCC.
